PURPOSE
Diversity Focus is committed to actively promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
throughout our organisation. We believe in the fundamental importance of these values,
both in our external services and internal operations.
Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and valued environment for our team, enabling them
to make meaningful contributions. This, in turn, enhances the quality of our work,
strengthens our reputation, and drives sustainable business success as a purpose-driven
enterprise.
SCOPE
The CEO of Diversity Focus will ensure that all individuals associated with the organisation are well-informed about and adhere to this policy. This policy applies to:
DEFINITIONS
These key terms are fundamental to our mission and guide our actions:
Diversity: Encompassing a wide range of dimensions, including, but not limited to, gender, race, native or indigenous identity/origin, nationality, ethnicity, culture, religion, language and accent, belief system, age, generation, disability, marital status, parental status, pregnancy, socio-economic status/caste, mental health, education, geography, and sexual orientation.
Equity: Equity reflects our commitment to fairness and justice. It involves intentional efforts to eliminate systemic, group, and individual barriers that impede opportunities and well-being. Equity is achieved by identifying and removing policies, practices, attitudes, and cultural messages that perpetuate unjust outcomes.
Inclusion: Inclusion centres on belonging and engagement, where diversity is embraced and valued, fostering a just and thriving organisation or community. An inclusive culture and
environment ensure that resources and opportunities are equally accessible to all, allowing individuals and groups to feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are. The terms equality and equity are often conflated, but we acknowledge that there is a
fundamental difference. While both advocate for fairness, equality treats everyone the same, regardless of their specific needs and circumstances. In contrast, equity tailors
approaches based on individual requirements, situations, and historical and systemic inequalities. Equity recognises that it’s not a level playing field, and that in order to treat
people the same, you must treat them differently.
